A very successful event held on Saturday 16th August at Catthorpe Manor which incorporated the 65th anniversary of the Estonian children's summer camp in England. The event was attended by the new Estonian Ambassador, HE Lauri Bambus. Guest artists from Estonia, Boris Lehtlaan, Tiit Saluveer and Tõnu Timm provided musical entertainment. A full report of the event will be in the next edition of Eesti Hääl, which will be available from 5th September onwards.
The event was organised by IES ‘Tulevik’ and the Association of Estonians in Great Britain. Thanks also to the help and assistance and sponsorship from various organisations including the World Estonian Council, the Estonian Ministry of Education, the Estonian Embassy in London, Nordic Hotell Foorum, Seitsemaja Ülenurme guesthouse, and many individuals who helped to sponsor the summer camp.
ESTONIAN RELIEF COMMITTEE - SUNDAY LUNCHES
The latest issue of Eesti Hääl is available. The Song and Dance festival in Tallinn in early July is prominently featured.
The next issue which will be available from 5 September onwards will feature the very successful Children's summer camp at Catthorpe and the 'Rahvapidu' at which Boris Lehtlaan, Tiit Saluveer and Tõnu Timm performed.
We are still looking for any stories about those who had to leave their homeland 70 years ago in September 1944. There will be commemoration services in London and Bradford at the end of September. Please send a short account - ask your parents or grand parents about their memories. These can be in English.
